1VD into hilux

Hey guys

Just wondering if it would be possible to fit a 1vd land cruiser diesel engine into a mid-late model hilux?

Thanks
James

Re: 1VD into hilux

I know this is an old post but surprised that is has not sparked some discussion.
However bottom line is NO, it will not fit in the engine bay. The 1VD is quite a wide (90deg V) engine and even the 70 series had to be widened in the front to accommodate the donk. In theory though with enough money and time anything is possible. The 1VD can be shoehorned into older model Landcruisers such as the 80 series with very little wiggle room. There has even now been one fitted into a 40 series but unsure of how much work was required. If I had the money I'd look at fitting one into a 45/47 series.
Although you have not mentioned what model Hilux you have the 1KD-FTV engine would be a great upgrade if looking for a more modern diesel.
