Banks, houses and general mayhem

Anyone else had the pleasure of dealing with banks, solicitors, agents and the general population when buying/selling their house?

I think after the experience I'm having/had so far, I'm leaning toward rather have my nuts crushed between two bricks..

... At least I'll have a decent shed

Been there, done that.

If you want some REAL fun, go through a mortgage broker, then try refinancing or moving to a new lender without them next time.

'Coz they're losing you as a source of income, they can become really shitty to deal with. I know a couple of people who almost had things fall in a heap because of it.

And as for conveyancers/solicitors, ask around. There are some really dodgy farkers in that game....

Re: Banks, houses and general mayhem

Yeah, sounds like we were pretty lucky with sticking with our bank - shame they don't know how to speak English or provide any real information.

Also got a decent solicitor who has her head screwed on, but I think she's at wits end trying to deal with the bank herself (trying to sort out sales in the ACT and dealing with bankers in Vic)

Sold our place pretty quick with a decent settlement period, then the house we were buying fell through, made another offer and then it's been chaos ever since.

Should be sorted now, but yeah, stuff me it's been a nightmare

A little over a year ago paid the house loan off in full.

Then moved all of the money out of that bank and told them exactly why.

Really good feeling to tell them to get fucked.

Guessing that it would be more telling them "OK, you ARE fucked now..."

My fave is the ability to say to people "I hope I never see you again", with them replying along similar lines, but both of us smiling and happy about it.

Kinda like a divorce I guess.....

Try filthy rich tenants renting out your house/mansion

they know the law.... tenant thing to screw you over

cost us over 25k in under 12months add another 10k to that

I pity landlords with the crap you have to go through
all geared to the tenants rights
