Re: Braden Douglas Tagg, trading as XRO Racing, found guilty

Subject title modified to what has been published.

Full story here

A SUNSHINE Coast man has been ordered to pay $33,500 in fines and restitution in the Caloundra Magistrates Court after charges were brought by the Office of Fair Trading for failing to supply goods paid for by customers. Braden Douglas Tagg, trading as XRO Racing, was found guilty on Tuesday on three counts of accepting payment for goods and failing to supply them under the Australian Consumer Law. Mr Tagg was fined $30,000 and ordered to pay $3,500 in restitution to three consumers. The court heard Mr Tagg took payment from three customers for custom made 4WD accessories, but did not supply the goods or give refunds. In sentencing, the court considered that Mr Tagg had been given numerous opportunities to repay the money, and had made promises to the Court that he would, but ultimately had failed to do so. Mr Tagg also failed to cooperate with the OFT's investigation. The OFT encourages any consumer who has bought goods or services from a business but has not received them to lodge a complaint at www.qld.gov.au/fairtrading. More information on the rights and responsibilities of consumers and businesses is available from the OFT website or by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68).

That's a decent fine. My guess is that some time will be served in lieu of the fine.

I wonder if Dan (Shorty40) was one of the three customers?

I wonder what the fine would have been if everyone who was previously shafted had contacted OFT?

As good as it sounds the issue is he can pay $5/week so time is on his side which is what sucks about the judicial system.

All I can say is it's about :bad-words: time this clown was hauled over the coals and fined for his dodgy business dealings. I still don't believe the fine is enough considering the amount of money he has ripped off from people over the years.

I trust all his "backers" are eating humble pie right about now too ... :finger: :finger:

Re: Braden Douglas Tagg, trading as XRO Racing, found guilty

Blokes like him will bunker down for a while but often will resurface under different names,,,just like the building trade. Piss people off, owe money, get fined...go bankrupt...open up else where. Sheriffs will chase him, but they enter payment plans...

Hate em...

It ain't over...it's never over with these types. No morals.
