Front and rear as in full SAS conversion? Or just the rear diff swapped over?

I think I know what the problem is.

You need a bucket of nuts to go with the bucket of bolts.

No idea but provided it physically fits surely it can't be that hard, you'd think.
If it's cheap just grab it and try.

Re: gearbox identification

Pretty sure 106 is just the model designation for that rounder shape that came out in 1988 and ran to 1997.
The LN was diesel and the RN was petrol.
What is it in the VIN your trying to figure out exactly?

Re: gearbox identification

Hang on a minute... RN106 and 2lte? That can't be right unless it's been swapped? The RN woulda had a petrol I'd have thought and probably just a G52 but if they swapped in the diesel then don't know whether they swapped box too... Um so first step I guess would be to find out what transfer case you...

Re: rear of gearbox

If it's standard car then what gearbox you have will be on your compliance plate, if not then it's a bit harder but still doable.

Once you figure that then Marlin crawler website is always good for tech info like that and usually has the parts needed too as he rebuilds boxes and sells exchange boxes

Just wondering (cause its sunday and i can't ring them) if anyone knows if the guys at Haultech are still dabbling in 4wd stuff? Or are they out of it these days?

I haven't been there since i left Brisbane in 2004 so got no idea.

Re: dual transfer on r151f

First decide on your budget then that will tell you what brand to run with, Trail gear overall will be cheaper but Marlin make better stuff so totally up to you. You'll need the Chain to gear drive adaptor to be able to physically bolt up the gear drive transfer. You'll need a top shift conversion k...

Yeah it used to be real common 10 years ago and I personally loved mine. Everybody knew someone with a horror story but that's like anything out of the norm. His is a bit different to mine tho, see how his 3/4 leaf is actually bolted up, that in my mind would make it a lot easier to drop down for tr...

Re: Rear Diff Swap

Hey Chris, all the comments above are dead right, I just thought I'd say it a bit simpler. All diffs are measured in WMS to WMS, which is Wheel Mount Surface to Wheel Mount Surface which is the mounting face that has your wheel studs and your rim sits hard against. Your std diff will be 1400mm WMS t...

Re: Hilux ln106 cab on ln65 chassis

Hi bud, Not sure if you got this sorted yet or not. Can't help with wiring as it's not a swap I've personally done. But as for steering shaft, I would suggest getting one out of an LN106 as th chassis is the same between LN65 and LN106 so steering box will be mounted in same spot, it's only cab posi...

The firm pedal is pretty normal until you go bigger calipers again.

Definitely do the V6 calipers as they have 45mm pistons instead of the standard 42mm pistons that you have from factory.

There are other little things you can do as well but that's a good start

Hey Bundy Whether you get the R105 or the R151 is purely up to you as to what ratios you want in 1st and 2nd as that is the only difference. R150f: 1st 3.830:1, 2nd 2.062:1 , 3rd 1.436:1, 4th 1.00:1, 5th 0.838:1 R150f: 1st 4.313:1, 2nd 2.330:1 , 3rd 1.436:1, 4th 1.00:1, 5th 0.836:1 I can't vouch for...

Re: how long did g52 gearbox last behing v8 304

Totally concur with what brad said, it just won't hold up long term bud. My suggestion is while your doing the motor swap change the box as well. Best bet would be an R150 or R151 out of the Surf's, or at the very least a W56. Both have chain drive transfer cases too which unless you need reduction ...
